M3.1 Biomonitoring

I just found out through a body burden test AKA biomonitoring that the following traces chemicals were detected in my blood. Here is the list of the chemicals and their potential health effects:
Chemical(s)
Potential Health Effects
Dioxins
Carcinogen, endocrine disruptor, cognitive disfunction
DDT
Reproductive toxicant
Organophosphate
(pesticide) neurotoxicant, Parkinson’s
Lead
Neurotoxicant, kidney toxicant, insomnia, impotence
Solvent
Liver toxicant, neurotoxicant
PCBs
Carcinogen, toxic to immune, neuro, and repro systems
Phthalates
Repro toxicant (infertility), testicular damage, endometriosis, endocrine disruptor
As i look at this result and read the hazardous effect these chemicals could have on my body its shocking. Several questions come to my mind:
How did these chemicals get into my body?
What could I have done to prevent these chemicals from entering my body?
How can I eliminate these toxins from my body or reduce their toxicity potential?
Have all the potentially toxic chemicals been detected?
Currently, I do not have any of any of the listed potentially health effects how long will it take for for these effects to appear ( or will it appear at all)?
What immediate next steps can I take to protect myself and my family?

  1. I think many questions do arise when our eyes are opened to the actual chemicals that are within our body. It's shocking to me that we so many that have not even been detected within our bodies. It does frighten me that we have chemicals that we do not even know that are within our bodies. I think it is our job to take care of ourselves and make sure we are aware of the repercussions.

    Thanks Claudia!
